Sex is a useful tool when trying to recruit young men into the Marines?

Well, one recruiter seemed to think it was a good idea.

Staff Sgt. Bryan Damone Cunningham is accused of pimping out a 14-year-old girl to entice men to enlist. He plead not guilty on 7 felony counts, including felony pimping and kidnapping. According to police in Orange County, CA, the girl was found in a car with Cunningham and two men, ages 18 and 19. The two men are described as potential recruits.

The girl told police she met Cunningham online and had sex with all three men. The recruits face felony charges of having sex with a minor.

Is it really so hard to get people to enlist in the Marines that they need to get the potential recruits laid? I have heard of cults using this tactic ("The Family" for one) but I didn't realize that the military was in such dire need of new blood.

This makes me wonder if SSgt. Cunningham had used this tactic before or if this was the first time. It also makes me wonder how hard the Marines checked into his background. Clearly, he is a sexual predator and needs to be locked up for a long time.
