American Idol Top 10 : Mo-Town

Well, we have hit the part of the season where we've gotten rid of some of the pretenders and are starting to get to the meat of the season - with one exception. Someone please tell me why we are still being subjected to the mess known as Megan Corkery? Well, after tonight's debacle maybe she will finally get the booting she deserves. That said, onto the recap :

Head of the Class

Danny Gokey - "Get Ready" by The Temptations - Once again he has a solid performance. The problem I have with Danny is that while he has a great voice, I don't see much star potential. I don't look at him and see "idol." Grade : A-.

Kris Allen - "To Be Love By You" by Marvin Gaye - While this was probably his best performance, I still don't really remember him. By the end of the show, I had forgotten that he had even performed. The other problem is that in order for him to be very good, he has to have his guitar with him. He will do well on the Gospel charts but I don't see him going into pop music. Grade : B.

Matt Giraud - "Let's Get it On" by Marvin Gaye - Matt's stock has definitely been rising since the wildcard round. He may indeed be the dark horse to win the competition. Here is the problem : I forgot about him. When they ran the phone numbers at the end of the show, I had forgotten about his performance already. And please, could Paula not gush about his mediocrity like he is a stud? Grade: B.

Scott McIntyre - "You Can't Hurry Love" by The Supremes - The one word I would use to describe his performances is charming. Even when he isn't at his best, you can't help but like him. I agree with the judges that it wasn't his best vocal but he is still one of my favorites nonetheless. I am hoping that next week he will take some major risks and show why we love him so much. Grade: B+.

Needs To Do Their Homework

Anoop Desai - "Ooh, Baby Baby" by Smokey Robinson - Yawn. I would think by now he would be improving as a performer. I guess last week was a fluke. Grade: D.

Michael Sarver - "Ain't To Proud To Beg" by The Temptations - The judges didn't like the performance and I agree his is going in the wrong direction. I think maybe being away from his family is getting in the way of his performing. I still love my hottie though. Grade: C.

Lil Rounds - "Heat Wave" by Martha & The Vandellas - I think Whoopi Goldberg in Sister Act sang this song better. The girl screamed the entire song. And on that, was Paula listening to the same thing we were or was she going by her rehearsal notes again like last season? This performance was torture. Grade: F.

Straight to Detention

Megan Corkery - "For Once in My Life" by Stevie Wonder - Does anyone else thingkthat Stevie Wonder would wish he was deaf as well as blind if he listened to her performance? The one thing I wished during her performance was for someone to put me and the audience out of its misery. Someone needs to tell her that she really does suck. That's why Vote For the Worst has kept her in the competition! Grade : T. (Troll. You Harry Potter fans will get that reference.)

Teacher's Pet

Adam Lambert - "Tracks of My Tears" by Smokey Robinson - I think Adam needed to show why he is the early favorite after his performance last week and boy did he. He cleaned himself up and just stripped the song down. This performance may be the best in the history of Idol. Even Simon now believes that he is going to be a star. Grade : A+.

Allison Iraheta - "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone" by The Temptations - How was this girl in the Bottom 3 last week? She had to follow Adam and Danny (considered the two favorites) and man did she rise to the occasion. She blew the roof off that theater with one hell of a performance. I think she should be the final woman standing. Grade : A+.

My Bottom Three

I have a feeling that Michael Sarver will be in the Bottom. I really hope that Megan is there as well. Between Anoop and Lil, I have a feeling Anoop will be in the bottom. I really hope we all get our wish and see Megan go home. I wouldn't be surprised if we lose our hottie though. My choice for the boot : Megan.

i really wish the other judges (all the ones besides Simon) would think up some new generic observations before the next show
