Anita Zaffke, 56, was riding her motorcycle in Waukegan, Ill. at 6pm Saturday evening when she was hit by a car when the driver ran a red light. Although she was wearing a helmet, it did not save her life. She later died at the hospital from internal injuries.
Why did the woman miss the red light?
She admitted to officers that she was not paying attention because she was too busy PAINTING HER NAILS!
That's right. Apparently having nice nails means more to Laura Hunt than someone else's life.
At this point, no criminal charges have been filed but I am sure there will be several once they get the toxicology test results. For now, she has been cited for traffic violation, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
Of course, she is in distress and we're supposed to feel bad for HER.
This is the exact reason why people should not be driving while putting on make-up, texting, talking on the phone, etc.
Just think, would you want to be on the receiving end of an accident caused by someone doing one of those things instead of paying attention to what's in front of them?
