"I wanted this child with all my heart, whatever the sacrifice," Lacatus was quoted as saying.

Is that really fair to the child? Is that really a mature and loving thing to say?

Just because she wanted a child doesn't mean that she should have totally disregarded the potential dangers to the baby.

Not only are there possible complications during the pregnancy but think about the delivery itself. She needed FOUR times the normal amount of anesthesia during the c-section operation. That alone could kill the baby before delivery!

Fortunately, the baby was born alive and healthy. Who knows what kind of problems could present themselves as the baby grows, however.

Who in their right mind would let their child ride on the top of their vehicle?

Better still, who would let them be inside a box on top of the car??

A woman in Alabama was charged with endangering the welfare of a child when she put her daughter inside a cardboard box and let her ride home on top of a minivan.

Just when you thought it wasn't dumb enough ... she explained to police that the girl was holding the box down because it wouldn't fit inside the van.

The woman told police it was safe because she "secured the box to the van with a clothes hanger."

How is it possible that this woman gets to be a parent but in many places, like in ALABAMA, loving gay couples are still turned down as adoptive parents.

A Wisconsin woman decided it was a good idea to strip in front of her children.

No, she's not a stripper.

She's a shoplifter.

Julia Laack, 36, of Sheboygan had received a home visit from police after she shoplifted a bag of beef jerky and a lighter from a convenience store. At first, she refused to come to the door. Police heard her screaming and swearing at her three children in her house, telling one that this was his fault.

Then it got weird.

Laack stripped to her underwear because, in her logic, then they couldn't arrest her.

Obviously, this is one woman who has never seen the TV show, COPS.

A pair of panties ain't gonna keep them from cuffin' someone.

Oh, it gets even better!

While trying to arrest her, she managed to spit on officer and kick the other one in the groin. Then, while on the way to the police station, she exposed her rear end against the rear window.

How the hell was the woman able to do that?

And yes, she was drunk.

Way drunk.

Wouldn't you be proud to have this for a mom?

Maybe not, but it would provide a lot of entertainment.

35-year-old Aimee Louise Sword of Waterford Township, MI, gave her son up for adoption over ten years ago. She recently used the Internet to find her son.

She found him.

Then, she seduced and raped him.

Yes, you read that correctly. The woman raped the son she gave up for adoption!

Prosecutor's have said the boy is still a minor but haven't disclosed if he knew it was his biological mother or not.

"I don't think I've heard of another case like this in my career," said Dr. Gerald Shiener, chief of Consultation and Liaison Psychiatry at Sinai Grace Hospital in Detroit. "I'm at a loss for words because it's something that we consider to be so out of the normal, so prohibited in every culture that it unnerves every man just to think about it."

Sword's attorney Kenneth Burch told the Press that his client "maintains her presumption of innocence" and said the accusations of incest have been very difficult for her.

But Sword herself has spoken since she first was arrested, writing on her MySpace page that she was inspired by rapper and former jailbird Lil' Kim because "she rises during the worst of obstacles."

Anyone else thoroughly disgusted here?

I understand feeling the need to seek out the child you gave up for adoption. That happens all the time. But how deranged do you have to be to seduce your child - knowing they are your child - and have sex with them? She deserves life in prison - just like the sentence she has now given her son.

Sandstone, MN - 29-year-old Ludusky Sue Hotchkiss has been charged with second-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter in the death of her 10-year-old daughter, Lakesha, in 2006.

Lakesha had cerebral palsy, autism and a seizure disorder. She got her nourishment through a feeding tube. At the time of her death, she had gone from 50lbs to 31lbs ... in one month. Apparently, her mother had starved her and end up killing her. A sibling found the girl dead at the family's home back in 2006.

I know it is tough to care for a developmentally disabled child but if it was that tough, why not ask for help?? I can't imagine how a parent could kill their child in such a brutal, senseless way. I could never imagine the pain and suffering the poor child had to have endured at the hands of her caregiver.

Cameron County, TX - Sheriff Deputies arrested Griselda Gaytan Wednesday after her children were found left alone in her vehicle outside the county jail. She'd left them there while she visited someone in the jail.

As you may know, TX and LA have been experiencing a heat wave lately, with temperatures of up to 100 degrees or higher. Fortunately, the children had only been in the vehicle for approximately 15-20 minutes and were unharmed.

The children, ages 5 and 10 months, have been turned over to their grandmother. Gaytan was arrested.

With all the heat advisories and media reports about stupid parents leaving their children to die from heat related deaths & injuries in automobiles, you would think that people would finally start making better decisions about child safety. Why have children if you're not going to bother keeping their interests in mind?

It amazes me how people like these are able have children but many states still do not even allow gay couples to adopt unwanted children. Maybe if they could, children like these would have better lives.

Or even still be alive to have one.

Meet Asia Thomas from Dallas, Texas. Apparently, she got thirsty. So thirsty in fact that she took her three children to the Lakewood Landing bar in Old East Dallas. No, she didn't bring her kids into the bar.

She left them in the car!


The kids were left in the car for at least 45 minutes while their mother was knocking back cocktails with friends. Fortunately it was at night and wasn't as hot as it would have been in the daytime.

How stupid can someone be to leave their three children (ages 6mos-4yrs) in their car while they party it up in a bar? I understand she is 23 and probably not a competent mother, but common sense should tell you that this is a bad idea.

I have a couple candidates for our Worst Mother of the Year Award. And let me tell you ... these are a couple of real winners.

First up is the Voodoo Queen of New York City.

A NYC woman and her mother burned the woman's 6-year-old daughter in a Haitian Voodoo ritual called Loa. She doused her child with accelerant and made her stand naked in the middle of a ring of fire. Naturally, the child was engulfed in the flames. The woman and the grandmother both ignored the girl's cries and screams. Instead, the grandmother washed the child and then put her to bed. The next day, a relative found the girl. The child had life-threatening burns over 25% of her body! Thankfully, the girl is now in foster care and the women have been arrested on felony charges.

I don't care what your religion is ... NOTHING gives you the right to do this to a child!

Our second nominee is a Maryland woman who gives new meaning to killing in 'cold blood'.

43-year-old Renee Bowman has been indicted on charges of killing her two adopted daughters, which Bowman kept in her freezer! The case against her began when her 7-year-old daughter jumped out of a window and was found in her neighborhood. She had also been abused by her mother. Allegedly, the woman killed the two girls sometime between 2005 and 2007 when they were living in Montgomery County, MD. Bowman had even been receiving payments from a Washington, D.C. agency! I'm glad that the third girl survived but now I fear for her. The trauma she has endured will most likely scar her for life. Hopefully, Bowman will go to prison for life.

The last candidate is perhaps the sickest of all three. This is also the most bizarre. Yes, even more bizarre than keeping your dead children in the freezer.

This one actually starts in the United Kingdom but ends in a small town in Maine. Apparently, police in West Midlands, England, received information that a local man was using the Internet to view child pornography. What he was viewing was taking place in Mars Hill, Maine, which is a town of only 1500 residents.

What was he watching? He was watching Julie Carr, 30, sexually abusing one of her four children on a webcam! Carr's children range in age from 18 months up to 5-years-old. It's bad enough that she was abusing her child but it's even worse that she was feeding the sexual addiction of pedophiles. I know what her older children are in for during the rest of their lives. I wouldn't wish that upon any child. Carr faces up to 40 years in prison if convicted of all the charges. I say give her life in prison!

There are some truly sick people in this world. My heart goes out for these children. I know it's difficult to read about these stories but it is important that they get told. People need to know these kinds of things are happening and it is happening closer to them than they think.

Well kids ... we have another candidate for "Mother of the Year" ...

Emily Beth McDonald, 23, from Austin, TX, was charged with felony injury to a child. Now I have heard of parents beating their children, starving their children and neglecting their children. This one probably takes the prize for weirdest way to abuse your child: feeding them human feces.

Yes, you read that correctly. She literally fed her child crap.

McDonald's 3-year-old daughter had been admitted to Dell Children's Medical Center with a "high fever and a long history of chronic diarrhea." She had a catheter and doctor's conducted a blood test which tested positive for foreign bacteria common in feces. Doctors inserted a feeding tube.

Because of their suspicions, doctors placed a camera in the child's hospital room. The mother was caught on tape using a soiled diaper and smearing feces on the cap of the feeding tube which has a direct link to the child's bloodstream. Based on medical history, it seemed the child would get better and then feces would most likely be introduced to her system so she would get sicker.

Allegedly, the mother confessed to the action and she admitted knowing that her actions could harm, and possibly kill, her child.

WTF? I would say that she probably did this because of some mental illness but if that were true, she wouldn't acknowledge knowing that her actions were wrong. Why would anyone think to make their child sick by feeding them their own excrement?

Her lawyer actually had the audacity to release a statement saying that she is "a fine young woman from a fine family who loves her children very much."

Yeah, nothing says I Love You like forcing them to eat poop.

The good news is that she has been ordered to stay away from her children. She has two other children, ages 6 and 4. She faces possible life in jail if she is convicted. No matter what, that nutcase shouldn't be allowed to ever be those children's caretaker.

Well, we finally have some good news to report in the case of the stolen trip money.

Maya and Patricia Dyer have been arrested for felony theft.

Police interview over 40 parents who have lost their money. While there is still some confusion over who was arranging this trip, it is clear that the Dyers were in charge of the money. Most of the checks were endorsed by one of the two women.

The question now is will it go to trial to put them in jail and when, if at all, will the parents get their money back.

A couple days ago I wrote about a group of 5th graders and their parents who got ripped-off by one of the trip organizers. Reporters were finally able to get in contact with the Dryers.

According to Maya Dryer, they've given the money back to everyone they had dealt with and that other organizers had the remainder of the money. She also told the reporter that some of the people actually went on the trip.

Um, no. None of the parents were given back their money and no one actually made the trip. How could they? There was no bus and no hotel rooms booked.

The victims all went to the police station to show their receipts to officers. According to the school, the school is not responsible because it was not organized through the school nor was it sponsored by them. Then why do some of the receipts say Brownsfield Elementary School on them? And some made checks payable to the school.

Just when we start getting answers, it gets even more complicated. Hopefully soon the police will be able to charge the Dryers with embezzlement and fraud soon.

I have heard of some despicable con jobs but this one takes the cake.

83 students and parents from Brownsfield Elementary in Baton Rouge were celebrating the students graduating the fifth grade by taking a bus trip to Atlanta. The trip cost $250 per person and included excursions to Six Flags, the Coca-Cola museum and the Martin Luther King, Jr. History Center.

They would never make that trip.

When the parents and children showed up to leave for Atlanta, they found out there never was a trip and over $22,000 was now missing. Three parents were listed as organizers for the trip: Shandell Brown, Maya Dryer and Dawn Tolbert. Local 9News spoke to one of the parents who didn't want to be identified. She and other parents said that Maya Dryer was in charge of the money.

Apparently, the money was handed over to Maya Dryer, who then turned it over to her mother, Patricia. Now no one seems to know where that money is.

Except the Dryers.

No one answered the door at the Dryer house. Police and the EBR School District are investigating the embezzlement.

I don't know about y'all but this disgusts me. In a city where kids are failing and the schools are failing, here is a group of people celebrating the children's academic success. And these people had to piss on that and rip off a group of children. These were children who were more excited about going to the MLK Jr. History Center than they were about going to Six Flags.

I hope they make sure these people go to jail for what they've done. It is people like them that help make people lose hope and trust in other people. No child should be ripped off like this.

Have heard about the mother who buried her son in a playground sandbox?

Tiffany Toribio, 23, strangled her 3-year-old son and buried him in a sandbox. The weird part of this story is that part of the way throughout killing him, she changed her mind and began performing CPR on him in an effort to save him.

Then, for some unknown reason, she decided to finish what she started.

After the boy had been missing for a week, the body of the child was found that sandbox.

According to the Albuquerque police, the woman said the reason she did it was "so that he wouldn't grow up knowing no one cared about him ... like I did."

I wish she could have gotten help before she did this. Obviously there is something wrong with her psychologically.

Believe it or not, an organization actually has given Dina Lohan a "Mother of the Year" award. Apparently, they didn't have very high standards. Here is a woman who has one daughter in and out of rehab and is now setting a very poor example for another daughter, Ali (pictured above with Lady Lohan).

She actually had the nerve to tell the New York Daily News that "it's impossible for Ali to be in school full-time, because she is in this business. She is home schooled. I'm a firm believer in staying in school but, the business, it's gotten difficult for Ali to be in school."

Um, what exactly is keeping Ali from going to school? Is it the reality show that she and her mom are doing to prove to the dozens of people that watch it that she isn't the world's worst mother? Or could it be all that shopping time with Lindsay or the trips with Lindsay that is getting in the way? Let's face it. Dina Lohan is no longer getting money from whoring out Lindsay so she needs another money making daughter to replace her.

It sure isn't acting that's getting in the way.

You would think that seeing what she and her ex-husband have done to one daughter that they might learn something and not do it again. Guess not. Where is child services when they are needed? Just because people have money doesn't mean they are fit parents.

A 10-year-old girl suffered burns on 70 percent of her body after a 16-minute session at an unmanned tanning salon. A few hours after she left the tanning salon in Port Talbot, South Wales, England, Kelly Thompson was taken to the hospital.

Doctors at the Welsh Center for Burns and Plastic Surgery said if Kelly had stayed in the tanning bed for another two minutes, she would have needed skin grafts. She must stay out of direct sunlight for the next 10 years, doctors told her.

Kelly’s mother, Sharon Hannaford, said Kelly went tanning out of curiosity. She is now making a public plea that all unmanned salons are shutdown.

Okay, my issue with this whole thing is why was a 10-year-old girl getting a tan in a tanning salon in the first place? And why was she not being supervised by an adult? I am not sure you can hold the salon responsible unless the mom didn't give permission to her daughter - but then I don't see a salon letting a 10-year-old use their facility unaccompanied by an adult.

Earlier this week I wrote about the disturbing murder of 8-year-old Sandra Cantu.

It got more disturbing yesterday.

I am disgusted by what I read about Melissa Huckaby's arraignment.

The official charge she is facing is "murder with the special circumstances of rape with a foreign object, lewd or lascivious conduct with a child under 14 and murder in the course of a kidnapping".

I had no idea that the poor girl had been raped with a foreign object.

Huckaby did not enter a plea.

The special circumstances means that if she is convicted, she could face life in prison without the possibility of parole OR the death penalty prosecutors have not determined if they will seek death as of yet. Also, no motive has been released to the media.

How more sickening can this story get???

On March 27th, 8-year-old Sandra Cantu was last seen skipping down the road in the Tracy, CA, mobile home park she lived in. Well, at least that's what the surveillance video saw.

She wasn't seen alive ever again.

On April 6th, farmers found a suitcase in the water and inside was the remains of Sandra Cantu. While there were some disturbing things discovered during the search for the little girl, the police had absolutely no leads as to what had happened to Cantu.

The police believe they know who committed the murder : a Sunday School teacher.

That's right. What is even sicker is that Cantu was very close friends with the woman's daughter - one of the Cantu family's neighbors. After the remains had been found, Melissa Huckaby told investigators that a suitcase had been stolen from her driveway.

That was the suitcase they found the girl's body in.

Although they have arrested her for kidnapping and murder, police have said that they still do not know why Huckaby committed these crimes. Hopefully she will answer those questions so the Cantu family can have some closure.

Yes, it looks like she will.

How much longer will authorities allow this woman to abuse these children? I am sorry, but that is exactly what this has become. By doing IVF to conceive again, she has neglected the six kids she already had. It has come to light that she already had nannies taking care of those children and she had very little to do with their upbringing. How she paid for those nannies, who knows.

Now with 14 kids to care for, how the hell is she doing it? She isn't doing it herself that's for sure! According to the nannies (those VOLUNTEERS) that she fired, the only times Suleman even went into the nursery was when cameras were rolling. She denied those reports. Sorry OctoMom, no one believes you anymore.

Recently, Suleman stated that she may apply for welfare. Um, didn't this woman say repeatedly that she would NEVER receive welfare? Of course, she was getting disability, food stamps and disability payments for 3 of her first 6 children - but she doesn't consider that assistance as welfare.

I would like to know something. If she cannot afford to feed her children, how can she afford to blow $1000 on make-up, $1500 on clothing for HERSELF or afford the $560,000 home she recently purchased (in her father's name of course)?

Now, she wants to use the babies to get herself on television. WHAT? The funny thing is that she wants whomever agrees to produce the show to limit the exposure of the babies. Yep, you heard me right. She seems to think that she is such a loved celebrity that people would want to see a show mostly about HER. Apparently, she wants to do a show that follows her search for love.

Anyone else notice how she seems to focus ONLY on HERSELF? How can she continue to deny that she did the IVF for selfish reasons? From the moment the birth became news, it has clearly been all about herself and not about those babies. She just wants to keep padding her bank account while the media and the taxpayers foot the bill. Let's not forget that huge hospital bill the taxpayers will be footing! But she can blow all that money on frivolous things for herself.

Today I read another highly disturbing news item ...

A woman in Gardner, MA was arrested today for allegedly stabbing her 2-year-old daughter over 100 times with a pair of scissors. She also used the electrical cord from a hair dryer to try to strangle the child.

Apparently this woman thinks that there is a cult stalking her. On the 911 call, she could be overheard saying, "die! die!" and "kill, kill. I have to kill you. die, die, die!" The call was placed by a security guard who, with the help of two residents, managed to separate the woman from her child just before the police arrived.

According to sources, the woman suffered from depression and paranoia and may have stopped taking her medication.

Thankfully, the child is expected to survive the attack.

No, this is not a post about the "OctoMom." Although I'm sure there is something to report about her (side note: she may not get to keep the babies! They may have a chance at a good life after all!). This is about a woman who was arrested in Kettering, Ohio.

Now, we've all seen people do stupid things while driving. Talking on cell phones, putting on make-up, even changing their clothes (yes, I have seen it.). This woman is the first one I have heard of breastfeeding while driving. Not only that, but she was also talking on her cell phone! How in the world does she think it is safe to do that let alone have a baby on your lap in the front seat! That's enough to have child services at your door. The sad thing about all this is that the woman told officers she was breast-feeding and wouldn't let her child go hungry. Why don't they require licenses to breed?
